Martha Boss Lutheran Day Activity Centre

Introduction

Martha Boss Lutheran Day Activity Centre was established in July 1986. Being the first mentally handicapped service unit of Hong Kong Lutheran Social Service, it provides day training service to cater the needs of people with intellectual disabilities in developing their physical, mental and social capabilities to the fullest possible extent and by promoting their integration into the community.

Objectives

To provide day care training in daily living skills so as to develop their potentials and personal growth.

To build up simple work skills and prepare them for better integration into the community or for transition to other forms of service or care.

To provide counseling and supportive services for mentally handicapped persons and their families.

To enhance public understanding and acceptance of people with disabilities through community education programs.

To provide medical care and health guidance for the mentally handicapped persons.

Target

Age 15 or above with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities.

Service

Training programs: Comprehensive and effective individual or group training are provided to enhance their personal growth in self-help skill, domestic skill training, motor skill, social and interpersonal skill training, communication skill, work skill, community living skill, leisure and recreational skill in real life situations.

Counseling Service: Social worker provides counseling services to caregivers or family members to relieve their stress in caring and referrals services for appropriate welfare services.

Medical Care Service: Provide personal and medical care for promoting self-image and concept of mental health.

Recreational Activities: Organize social, leisure and developmental programs to meet their changing needs.

Community Education Service: Facilitate community integration through mass community programs such as exhibitions open days & carnival so as to increase their social adaptability and enlarge their social networking.

Paramedical Service: Regular occupational therapy, physiotherapy and clinical psychologist are provided by the Social Welfare Department.

Service Hour

Monday to Friday: 8:30AM-5:00PM,
Saturday: 9:00AM-12:00NOON
It close during Sunday and Public holidays

Fee

Lunches, and Activities fees will be charged per month.
Transportation fees will be charged if necessary.
